About Banksia

Banksia helps Australian businesses make their websites usable by AI agents — combining technical assessment with managed remediation, and being straight about which standards are settled and which are not.

Why we built it

Banksia is built by an Indigenous-led Australian technology team. Large organisations have strong engineering support behind them; smaller businesses and community organisations often don’t. Banksia exists to narrow that gap, with work that is affordable, practical and built to last.

  • Enterprise experience. The same engineering discipline used on large government programs.
  • Indigenous perspective. We understand the challenges facing Indigenous organisations, including data sovereignty and culturally appropriate technology design.
  • Real-world delivery. Practical remediation you can afford, not a report that sits in a drawer.

We crawl only public pages, with rate limits and safety checks. You can request deletion of submitted data, and internal staff notes never appear in customer reports or PDFs. We treat experimental signals carefully and never promise rankings or AI citations we cannot support.

Frequently asked questions

What is AI agent readiness?
Whether software acting for a person — an assistant, a research agent, a shopping agent — can find your site, read your content, and act on it. It overlaps with good web practice but is not the same thing: a site can rank well and still be opaque to an agent.
Is this the same as SEO?
No. Some signals overlap, such as robots.txt and a working sitemap. But agent readiness is about machine access and interaction — server-rendered content, declared usage preferences, discoverable endpoints — not about ranking position.
Do you guarantee an AI assistant will recommend my business?
No, and neither can anyone else. We assess whether agents are able to access and understand your site. Whether a given assistant mentions you is outside anyone's control.
Is llms.txt a ranking factor?
No. We treat llms.txt as an experimental convention for agent guidance. Recommendations always stay consistent with your public pages — never cloaking.
Do you need access to my website?
No. We read only what your site already publishes to the public, including well-known files. We never ask for logins, hosting access or administrative credentials.
When does crawling start?
After you confirm your email. Submissions are rate-limited and unsafe network targets are rejected.
What does the assessment cost?
The assessment and its report are free, and there is no card required. Remediation work is quoted separately after the review session.
Who is behind Banksia?
